About US
A recognized partner in the field of galvanizing
Metal-Cinkara Ltd. is part of the Maksim Group Ltd., headquartered in Celje, Slovenia. The company’s core business is hot-dip galvanizing of steel, regarded as the highest quality corrosion protection for steel.
The company began operations in June 2004 as part of the Maksim Celje concern, which holds a majority ownership with a 97.92% share in the company’s capital.
Leveraging the long-standing experience of Pocinkovalnice d.o.o. Celje, Metal-Cinkara Ltd. has from its inception become a market-oriented company known both domestically and internationally.
Steel structures galvanized at Metal-Cinkara Ltd. can be found in many countries across Europe, the
Middle and Far East, as well as Russia.
By advancing environmentally friendly technology, maintaining a courteous relationship with clients
and partners, and educating future partners about the advantages of hot-dip galvanizing compared to other corrosion protection methods, interest in hot-dip galvanizing at Metal-Cinkara grows every day.
Capacity
We are the market leader in Southeastern Europe with an annual capacity exceeding 45,000 tons. We operate a galvanizing bath with internal dimensions of 13,750 mm (length) x 1,700 mm (width) x 3,200 mm (depth), and the maximum weight of an individual element is up to 10 tons. Metal-Cinkara Ltd. is the preferred choice for customers also because of its strategic location in Inđija, geographically positioned between the two largest centers, Belgrade and Novi Sad, along the E75 highway, providing excellent connectivity to the entire road infrastructure of Serbia. With 5.5 hectares of paved open space and 2,000 m² of covered storage, we are capable of storing large quantities of black and galvanized steel structures for our clients.Economic Efficiency
The hot-dip galvanizing process provides long term protection for steel structures, making its application primarily economically justified due to the high costs caused by corrosion. According to data from the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE International) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), annual global losses due to corrosion amount to approximately 4% of GDP. This equals around 2.5 trillion USD per year.
Practically, every 90 seconds worldwide, one ton of steel is “eaten” by rust, and for every two tons of steel produced, one ton is made to replace corroded steel.
Therefore, protection by hot-dip galvanizing is essential and necessary as it reduces the costs caused by corrosion and has a significantly lower energy footprint compared to paint coatings. The cost of galvanizing itself is approximately 35% lower than painting costs, considering sandblasting and a three-layer paint system with a dry film thickness of 250 µm.
Galvanized structures are easily recyclable, and waste from the hot-dip galvanizing process (zinc solids and zinc ash) is recycled into 99.9% pure zinc, ensuring a circular economy.
All this indicates that galvanizing provides long-term protection for steel structures and is vital for the modern economy — both because of its circularity and as the best solution in combating climate change.
Environmental awareness
Our operations are based on low energy consumption and minimal waste generation. Metal-Cinkara does not emit harmful emissions into the environment, as it is built according to the principles of BAT (Best Available Techniques) technology and IPPC directives, and equipped with devices for filtering all fumes. Used water and filtrates are returned to the technological process, while spent chemicals are sent for proper disposal. Zinc alloy waste is sold and fully recycled back into smelting zinc and zinc oxide.
The best proof of applied circular economy measures is the shipment of spent hydrochloric acid solution saturated with zinc and iron as a by-product to Rudnik Ltd. Rudnik, Gornji Milanovac, which uses it as an input raw material. The decision to register this as a by-product was issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, document number: 19-00 00973/2024-06 dated December 10, 2024, with registration number NUS 12.
